Band Biography

1Corinthians 10:31 says (in part), “…whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.”  We believe that includes music.  HARD ROAD exists primarily to point people to Jesus—to glorify God.  We exist secondarily to use the style of music that we all love (Blues and Rock & Roll) as the medium by which we convey the message of Jesus.  We chose the name HARD ROAD because we know that many people are walking a hard road in life, and we want to come alongside those people and say, “Jesus is the answer.”  Someone once said, “I don’t know what your problem is, but I do know that Jesus is the answer to whatever problem you are going through.”  We believe that, and we pray that God will use our music to lead those who are hurting to that knowledge, as well.

In 2019, God put (lead guitarist) Bo Fawbush, (drummer) Chris Haines and (bassist) Chris Dickens (also a pastor) together, and we began writing music.  Through much prayer and patience, God brought Paul Norfleet (Guitar & vocals) and Kris Robbie (vocalist) in to the band.  That is when we recorded our first record “Change the World.”

Because we are a ministry-first band, Kris Robbie and his wife felt God’s leading to missions work in Estonia, and they began their mission in May 2024 with our full support and blessing!

Still, the band carried on, and again through prayer and patience, God brought us Tim Walker as lead singer. Tim fits with us just like a hand in a glove, and we are excited to see what the Lord wants to do with us!  We have no idea what the Lord has in store for HARD ROAD, but much like Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20:12 we cry out, “Oh Lord, we do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you!”

Bo Fawbush (Lead Guitar):

Ever since He can remember, Bo has loved music—all kinds of music.  He remembers as a 4 y.o. listening intently to Elton John’s “Goodbye to Yellow Brick Road” on his sister’s record player.  His older cousins also had a big impact on what he listened to and got deeply into KISS and Led Zeppelin, well before the age of 10.  Bo was raised in a Christian home, and at the age of 10 heard and understood the gospel and sensed the call to be saved.  He did and was baptized shortly thereafter.

Bo started playing guitar at age 15 (40 years ago!), and wanted to be a lead guitarist in a band touring the country. By this time, He was heavily into guitarists like Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. "Yet, I also had a crippling shyness that I couldn’t get over, and my dreams were dashed."

In his early 20s, after about a 7-year wilderness wandering, Bo sensed the Lord calling him back to to God and his relationship with Christ and in his desperation surrendered not only his life but also his vocation, and though felt exceedingly incapable, he followed the Lord’s calling to be a pastor.  After attending seminary, eventually becoming the pastor of Donelson View Baptist Church in Nashville, TN, where he has now been pastor for over 15 years.

Early in the ministry there, Bo believed that God was calling him to use his ability as a guitar player to reach other people for Jesus.  Which is what he is doing with the band “HARD ROAD” today!

Chris Haines (Drums):

Born and raised in LaVale, Md. Started playing drums at 13 and about that time, moved to Pa. In and out of about 12 bands. The longest running was a Christian band Cloud Of Grace Ed Miller, Skip Fetzer, Charlie Shaffer, Bill and Melanie Beckner . Chris moved to Nashville and eventually met Bo Fawbush and Big Chris Dickens.

"I grew up Catholic, then converted to southern/Baptist. I always knew who Jesus was but I owe thanks to my ex-wife for her and I becoming born again Christian at the same time."

Chris Dickens (Bass Guitar, Vocals):

While working with special needs kids and serving as a local pastor, Chris Dickens brings the low end to Hard Road.  He has been playing since he was 15 years old.  His playing style is influenced by rock and metal players like Gene Simmons (KISS) and Greg Chaisson (Badlands, Die Happy, Red Sea).  He has recorded several metal albums as Mission Of One and two blues/rock albums as Big Chris & D’Bare Bones Band.  He has quite a bit of studio experience as well.  He has recorded bass tracks for Liberty N’ Justice, Incarnate, contributed a song with Walk on Water on the Deliverance tribute album, and several EPs with Lordchain Worship.  He brings that experience to the Hard Road family and pushes the band to try something different."

Tim Walker (Lead Vocals, Guitar):

Tim was raised in a good Christian home in rural southeast Missouri during the 60’s and 70’s. He surrendered to Jesus at 21 years old. Music influences from southern rock icons such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Led Zeppelin, Outlaws, Grand Funk Railroad, Allman Brothers, and blues icons such as BB king, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, etc.

Tim and his wife Trina surrendered to the music ministry in 1986! Early  Christian music influences Larry Norman, Barry Mcquire, Keith Green, Phil Keaggy, Third Day, DC Talk, Rich Mullins,  and DeGarmo and Key, etc.

After meeting His wife, Trina, in the Air Force, they were first in the group Sonrise based out of Lubbock TX and have since fulfilled a 30 year music ministry using the name TnT music ministry, through churches, Missions and different Christian music venues.

Now living in the Nashville TN area serving in church ministries and Trina finishing her career in Education they look to get back into music evangelism.

Tim answered an ad for a lead singer for a southern rock/blues band and found a home through the incredible sound and talent in the band Hard Road! Music taking him back to his early southern rock/blues music of the 70’s with the message  of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Enjoying grand children through the fruits of 3 son’s, he now has a blast playing, singing and song writing the music he loves with the friends he has found in the band Hard Road!
